Our Program

Setting the stage for future success is what preschool is all about. This is the time when children can experiment. Our preschool program has been created to expose our students to many concepts. Subjects that we teach include: ABC’s, number concepts, science, prewriting and writing skills, physical and large motor skills, interpersonal skills, art, music and movement and social and emotional skills.

Field Trips and Special Events

Preschool is also a time when little ones start to learn about being independent and interacting with a world much larger then they are. We plan special field trips that give our students new appreciation for the world around them. Some of our trips are: Bristol Farms, Fire Station, Beetle Brigade, Library, Japanese Gardens, and to the Mailbox. We also have many special events that occur throughout the school year. We organize class learning and projects around special themed weeks and days such as: Halloween Parade, Thanksgiving Feast, Holiday Program, Grandparents Day, Open House and our Book Fair.

Room to Roam

This is a special feature of Discovery Preschool. We have a back patio that spans the length of our classrooms and provides an extra area for our children to play. We open this up during a special time in our day and the children can chose where they want to go. Each room has a different teacher and activities. This helps to develop our students’ sense of self, making their own choices and making new friends.

Lunch Bunch and Enrichment Classes

Most school days the preschool offers an additional hour of lunch and supervised playtime for a small fee. Children bring their lunch and are given a drink. Many of our students ask to stay for this time. Certain days of the week, after lunch, we also offer enrichment programs for an extra half an hour. These extra fun classes cover areas such as: Spanish, Webby Dance, Gymnastics, Music, Math, Phonics and Art. We are also offering “Discovery Time.” This is a hour of play at the school every month for siblings who are not quite old enough for school. It is a time to come and get acquainted with our grounds.
