Circle Time

During this time, students sit on the rug together and practice classroom participation. Our students will learn how to follow instructions and routines through music and movement. Students will also have the opportunity to learn classroom expectations such as raising their hand and taking turns to speak. Teachers also read to the class every day.

Room to Roam

This is a special feature of Discovery Preschool. We have a back patio that spans the length of our classrooms and provides an extra area for our children to roam and play. Children can choose a back patio activity or visit another classroom during this time. Room to Roam helps develop our students’ sense of self by making their own choices and making new friends.

Field Trips and Special Events

Preschool is also a time when little ones can practice being independent and interacting with a world much bigger than they are. We plan special field trips that give our students new appreciation for their community. Some of our field trips include: fire station, nature center, library, theater, Japanese garden, and the corner mailbox.

We also organize class projects and invite guests according to school themes. This gives our students the opportunity to learn about different cultures, community helpers and the environment.

Some of our other special events include: Halloween Parade, Friendship Feast, Christmas Program, Special Person's Day and Open House.

Lunch Bunch and Enrichment Classes

We offer an additional hour of lunch and supervised playtime for a small fee. Children bring their own lunch when they are enrolled.

After lunch, we also offer enrichment programs for an extra half hour. These fun classes expand learning in areas such as: Math, Art, Phonics, Movement and Science.
